A short love letter to the Inception fandom -

No, I love you more! Oh stop it! No really, I can't handle you guys. I love every one of you. I want to take you on massive group dates where we steal French art and buy expensive suits. I love that the movie's been out for a little over a week now and fandom is already going strong. I love that for some reason (which I may have forgotten since I've only seen the movie once) fandom has made Arthur a Francophile and I love that Eames reminds me of Remy LeBeau. I haven't fallen for something this hard since...well, the last time I fell for something this hard, but I promise you it was at least a month ago. Right now I honestly feel like I did when I dropped into bandom. I feel like all I do is pine to see the movie again and write fic in my head that I tragically have no time to write in real life. I love how this fandom gives me an excuse to read up on mind studies and look into philosophers I'd been putting off on the off chance they have something to say that I could work into a fic. I love how I have plot bunnies about talking to your subconscious and they aren't out of place or strange like they would be in some of my other homes. Fandom, I love you for referencing fucking Magritte.

I want to friend you all except I don't know how to without being awkward and stalky. So instead I'll just lurk about in your dark corners. I'll watch over your boys.

(No really, someone come talk to me about this before Em defriends me in real life. I'm so glad ninepointfivemm has also fallen for it and that she randomly IMs and texts me as the Eames to my Arthur.)




HP MEME Day 3 Favorite female character.

I may surprise some of you by saying Tonks, since you probably know that I'm an ardent supporter of the unicorns who killed her. The thing is, Tonks is an awesome character. She's a girl who can handle herself. She's clumsy and impulsive, but she's also smart and brave and courageous. Tonks is everything I want to be in a woman. And then she fell in love with Remus. Though I hesitate to call it love. Infatuation maybe, which probably isn't fair of me. I promise this doesn't even have to do with me being a puppy shipper. It's because I was such a big fan of Tonks that I hated her after she fell for Remus. She grew weak. She stopped caring about all of the amazing things around her. The life just left her, and that, for someone who had been so full of life, is tragic. But I suppose in the HP universe it's just one tragedy drop in the huge tragedy bucket. That doesn't mean I have to agree with it, though.


I'll fly away.

I AM GLAD I AM AMUSING YOU.

My favorite thing about the fandom exploding so thoroughly is that it is a whole new thing, you know? It doesn't have a legacy fandom like Star Trek or Sherlock Holmes. It's not a comic book movie with an already rabid fanbase. It was a single, ambitious movie that people have latched on to and that's one of my very favorite things about fandom in general.

I remain convinced that Tonks was under the influence of a spell or potion or something (JKR made a big deal about Amortentia in that book, with no obvious payoff). Her change in personality was too whiplashy. And I believe Remus knew it, which is why he stuck with her, to protect her as best he could.

I can go with that, though I don't know what the purpose of a spell that did that would have been. I'm sure you've thought about it. ;) I do really like the idea that Remus stood by her to protect her. I still need someone to explain the baby to me. I feel like Sirius is somewhere in the afterlife chuckling and going 'Remus, you old dog'.

Tonks was an extremely capable Auror, and her metamorphmagic power made her even more dangerous. By putting her under the influence of the potion/spell, you can see that she basically lost all effectiveness. The Order lost a valuable asset -- two, in a way, if you consider all the effort Remus had to go to to try and put her off for a year.

And the fact is Remus was already grieving, and I think Hermione wasn't totally off-base when she theorized that Tonks was also grieving Sirius and feeling at fault for his death. Tonks's infatuation might have been magically enhanced, but her grief was real, and in the end Remus did care about her in some way, and they found comfort in each other. And maybe the spell/potion on Tonks neutralized any birth control spells (either that or Remus is SO GAY that he couldn't do them properly, LOL).


...there's also my pet crack theory that in HBP/DH, Tonks was Sirius. *bats eyelashes*

It was my crack theory post-HBP, and I was THRILLED to realize that it still held up in DH, because we don't see Sirius's spirit until after "Tonks" is dead.

"Tonks" couldn't metamorph in HBP because Sirius was not used to the powers yet, he had to basically learn them.

"Tonks" got pregnant because by that point, Sirius could change back to his own face, and they sort of forgot that pregnancy was a possibility.

CANON, BITCHES.

I have actually been shying away from the kink meme, because I know me and I know I'll end up filling prompts and then 30,000 words later I'll have nothing else done. :p

Clothes do sometimes make the man. JGL I can admit to having admired for some time. I just like the cut of his jib. Also, he's one of those people where every time he opens his mouth I get massive hearts in my eyes and like him more, which is not a common occurrence.

I'm in the middle of a bit of a Remus/Sirius renaissance and I keep remembering how AMAZING Tonks was in book five (and also how I shipped her with Moody) and then how I don't even like to think about her in the later books because I get too depressed/disgusted.

It's the quickest I've ever seen a fandom camp set up! I'd have whiplash if I wasn't so busy rolling around in fic and being freaking ecstatic about it.

Aaah, that makes sense. I've seen in interviews and things where he speaks French, I just didn't make the leap from character to actor. (Not that I shouldn't have, we all know I totally drink the RPF kool-aid. I think I might go looking for Joe/Tom fic. Um...)

It was so crazy! I saw the movie on the third day it was out and there was plenty of fic already, and on top of that, the fic I've been reading is pretty great. Above average quality for sure. And a kink meme already! I've never seen anything like that.
