So, this past Friday something AWESOME happened. And by awesome I mean ecstatically awesome. Like, I even told Justin that they were awesome, and that is awkward but it HAD TO HAPPEN, OKAY? OKAY. AWESOME. This past Friday my dear [livejournal.com profile] theemdash hosted a wizard rock show IN HER HOUSE. I'll just let the awesomeness of that statement sink in.

The boys! L-R: The Whomping Willow (aka Matt), Justin Finch Fletchley, and Fred Lives.

These are some of the refreshments we had on offer at the cash bar. We also had pumpkin juice and butter beer, both of which went over very well. All of the money we made that evening, minus some of it to pay us back for what we spent (though not nearly all of what we spent), went to the boys and to the HPA.

I think we had about forty people there, which is a nice turn out for a show in someone's house.

[livejournal.com profile] scifigirl. This was before we got gay giraffe married at EPCOT.

Fred! Fred sang the Bleep Out Song by himself because his usual female cohort wasn't in attendance. It was possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen.

I just like how Fred is hugging his guitar in this picture. I over heard that his girlfriend didn't come because she'd already had to cancel three WOW raids to hang out with him that week. Let me tell you, that is a relationship after my own heart.

Once again, I just love Fred hamming it up. You'd never know that Matt is actually my favorite.

We decorated Em's house for the event. This is the wall of gay. I'm thinking of petitioning for them to leave it.

I also have some video, in case you don't know anything about Wizard Rock and are interested in checking it out.

The Whomping Willow - Don't Let Me Explode. This is my favorite song off Matt's latest album, Demons at the Helm. I could just listen to it on repeat forever. So I was very, very glad that he chose to play it.

The Whomping Willow - Brief Repose. Also from Demons at the Helm.

Justin Finch Fletchley - Matchbox. A song about why you shouldn't duel with Neville Longbottom.

Fred Lives - Screaming Things. A lot of Fred's songs are the other side of raunch, but they're all hilarious, which is something I can get behind. He reminds me a lot of the tradition of bawdy folk songs.

The day after the wrock show we still had [livejournal.com profile] scifigirl on loan so we decided to kidnap her and take her to EPCOT for the Food and Wine fest. Hilarity ensued. [livejournal.com profile] scifigirl, [livejournal.com profile] barbed_whispers, and I were douchebags, Em was old, Jess was in search of cheese goods.

SISTER HAZEL! The whole reason we went to this date was to see Sister Hazel. There was one year, not to long ago, where Jess and I saw Sister Hazel about nine times. I do not regret this, for they are entertaining and their tunes are catchy and they just make me happy, okay? Although, Em did posit that that could be Fall Out Boy up there playing Food and Wine fest sometime. I'm not saying I'd complain, but man, would that make me feel old.

I posted this photo to tumblr on Sunday night with the following note: Today I went to EPCOT with my friends Alli, Sara, Lisa, and Jess and we had an awesome time. We saw Sister Hazel. We ate and drank for it is Food & Wine Fest time. Some of us got fake married. Or maybe it was real, no one can really say different. And then at the end of the night we settled down on some steps in Italy with tort and chocolate mousse and beer and rosa regale and we watched the top of the fireworks display over the people and bridges and structures in front of us. Sometimes I’m forced to admit to myself that I’m really a very lucky person.

I stand by it.

And that's how I spent my Columbus Day Weekend, by KL, age 27. How are you guys? Do anything exciting this past weekend? Even get the day off? I spent most of my day off unpacking the kitchen. For someone who actually enjoys unpacking, I'm being a massive fail face about it this time. I don't even know.

That looks like so much fun!!! House cupcakes! And cookies!

Took my daughter to see Miley Cyrus in concert this weekend. So, not quite wizard rock. :) Though I'm still going to go to hell for because she looked GOOD. I thought checking out Draco Malfoy was bad - Hannah Montana has got to be worse.

It was an excellent time. I mean, I like wizard rock shows anyway, because the music is generally pretty good and relevant to my interests and the musicians and all the attendees are certain to be big old nerds as well. It's just a huge lovefest, basically.

Also, at least Miley's parents seem content to tart her up and parade her around like you SHOULD be having indecent thoughts about her. I don't remember there being any scenes in the books where Draco was in those apple bottom jeans or the boots with the fur. ;)
