Setsuna/Katou

"I used to hate you, you know," Katou rolled his head over on the pillow and his hair fell over his face. It obscured most of it so that only his eyes peered through the dirty blond curtain.

"I never even thought about you," said Setsuna. He straightened out his legs and tried to work the cramps out of the muscles. Katou had been in the recovery room for twelve hours and Setsuna had been sitting on the floor next to his bed for eight of them. It was just easier than dealing with what was going on outside.

"I know, that was part of why." Katou let out a high pitched laugh and Setsuna started, but his head drooped again almost immediately. He was so, so tired. "Stupid, huh?” Katou continued, and Setsuna struggled to listen around the roar of white noise and unanswered questions in his head. “All that hate and all that frustration and all that time for a bastard like him. He doesn't even know us anymore." The laugh turned into a cough, and then there was blood on the sheets.

Setsuna pushed himself off the floor and walked unsteadily to the bed. He brushed Katou’s hair back and ran his fingers across Katou's lips, wiping the blood away. "He knows," he whispered.

Katou nodded. "Yeah, wishful thinking. Hey, I don't hate you anymore, you know."

"Yeah, I know.” Setsuna wiped the blood on his pants and brought his fingers back to Katou’s forehead. It was so hot, but it shouldn’t be. He was sure that people who were already dead didn’t get fevers. “I know you're here now."

Katou opened his mouth to say something, but thought better of it. "I need a cigarette," he said finally.

Setsuna smiled down at him. "No, you don't."

"Habit, I suppose, like needing him.” He tried to shrug and play it off, but winced as the movement pulled at his arm. “You're going to kill him, right?"

"I don't know," Setsuna said. He folded the sheet down past Katou’s chest and inspected the bandages. The area around them was black and stringy. The darkness that ate away at the inside reflected on the outside. Had Kira always had that effect on people?

"Just as well, probably have to start hating you again. Gotten used to not."

"You're an idiot, you know that?" Setsuna returned to his watch position. He pulled his knees into his chest and rested his chin on them.

"Aw," said Katou, as he turned his head to face towards the opposite wall. "You know what they say about old habits."

You think if I close my eyes and keep telling myself that I only like white boys it will work? Aww...I didn't think so either. Because what I needed was a fandom with real life groping and gayness. *glares at extension* XD

I'm gonna go hack up a lung elsewhere, before the gay wears off on me. Oh wait, too late!
