Yeah, some of the FF games definitely have steampunk elements--I'm thinking of VI in particular, which had a steam/coal powered town and a railroad and the burrowing castle and the proto-assembly line factory, all in a setting that was still fairly old world-ish. IX played around with the concept a bit, too.
