Holy sh!t, we both mentioned Sartre in our posts on the same day! No wonder we get along! ^_^
I thought the romance industry's fixation with vampires had to do with all the sexual symbolism (phallic stakes being thrust into people, penetration, sucking, et. al.). Or maybe it's just because vampires are usually hot boys who don't age. That would be enough for me.
But, if it came down to romance novel vampires vs. Saiyuki though, well, we both know which one I'd pick!
